I.
Can you marvel at the visible blue sky,
Like you marvel at the unseen universe?
Can you marvel at the ordinary rock,
Like you marvel at the moon?
II.
Viewing stars closely was impossible,
Seeing Earth from the moon was unimaginable,
Peeking further into space, we are stunned again.
Whether we can see or touch it,
Ever-present.
III.
How may we remind ourselves of our hyperopia?
Unable to appreciate the near and present,
Endlessly fascinated with what feels new and distant.
Unable to perceive the eternal,
What has been, is, and will be there,
What is present, available, and within reach.
IV.
How may we be equally fascinated,
With tonight’s starry sky,
As with tomorrow’s newest star?
From NASA:
Captured in infrared light by NASA’s new James Webb Space Telescope, this image reveals for the first time previously invisible areas of star birth.
This landscape of “mountains” and “valleys” speckled with glittering stars is actually the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region in the Carina Nebula.
Called the Cosmic Cliffs, the tallest “peaks” in this image are about 7 light-years high.
