I. Asking
Careful what you ask for,
You may be blind to its cost.
You may be given,
What you need,
What you want,
Perhaps both,
At a time,
In a manner,
Outside your choosing.
Unaware what you ask,
Brings demands,
Comes with unexpected costs,
Arrives with responsibilities.
Falsely believing you are prepared,
Upon receipt unable to reclaim ignorance,
Innocence surrendered.
II. Receiving
Unprepared to receive,
Now, unable to “unsee,”
You may feel utterly compelled,
Without alternative but to commit,
What was unimaginable,
Undoing,
Unlearning,
Unraveling your former self,
Untethered from whence you came,
Unable to return,
A return to nothing,
Emptiness making way,
Creating a pathway,
For what is to be born,
Your path illuminated,
Walking sightless,
With clarity of mind.
For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.
Luke 12:48
